Dick Dusseldorp was one of Australia’s most visionary entrepreneurs. It was under Dusseldorp’s leadership that GPT, Australia’s oldest listed property trust, was launched in 1971.
Dusseldorp recognised the community of interest that existed between shareholders, employees and management – and this became an enduring value in the group of companies he founded. He was an innovator and leader in labour management, business development and in business ethics and governance. He understood that entrepreneurs should leave a substantial legacy for shareholders, employees and society. In many respects, the 50% GPT owned Seidler-designed MLC Centre in Sydney’s Martin Place, completed in 1977, represents a tangible example of this philosophy.
GPT’s strategy builds on the Dusseldorp legacy. This includes owning, managing and developing quality Australian real estate that lasts, that is distinctive and that becomes part of people’s lives and Australia’s history.
