GPT celebrates opening of $440 million Sunshine Plaza redevelopment

The GPT Group today celebrated the completion of Sunshine Plaza’s $440 million redevelopment, alongside the Lendlease-managed Australian Prime Property Fund and Sunshine Coast Mayor, Cr Mark Jamieson.

The redevelopment includes the Sunshine Coast’s first David Jones, H&M, Sephora, lululemon and Sheike stores, as well as upgraded stores for existing tenants Myer, Big W, Kathmandu, JB Hi-Fi, MECCA and Baku.

Sunshine Plaza is the only super-regional shopping centre north of Brisbane, featuring more than 340 retailers over 107,000 square metres, with the expansion delivering more than 110 new tenancies. The redevelopment has introduced more than 40 first to market brands to the region, enhancing the centre’s very compelling retail offer will continue to secure the asset’s dominant positioning in this growth market.

The centre will include a new high ropes course, outdoor children’s play areas and further Cornmeal Promenade dining options that are targeted to open by mid-2019.

“Sunshine Plaza has a track record as one of GPT’s best performing retail assets and this expansion will ensure it remains the Sunshine Coast’s premier retail, dining, entertainment and tourism destination,” said Mark Fookes, GPT’s Chief Operating Officer.

Mayor Cr Mark Jamieson said: “The expansion of Sunshine Plaza represents a significant capital investment in our region and for the retail industry."
