GPT has been a signatory of the United Nations Global Compact since February 2012.

The UN Global Compact asks companies to support and enact, within their sphere of influence, a set of core values in the areas of human rights, labour standards, the environment and anti‑corruption.

As signatory to the UN Global Compact and its 10 principles on human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption, GPT submits a Communication on Progress to the UN Global Compact every year.

GPT’s eighth annual Communication on Progress forms part of our 2022 Sustainability Report. Our Communication on Progress describes how we integrate the UN Global Compact and its principles into GPT’s strategy, culture and day-to-day operations. We also continue to engage in collaborative projects which advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Key aspects of how we integrate the 10 principles into our business activities are outlined below.

Human Rights

Principle 1: Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights, and

Principle 2: Make sure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.

GPT's policy and action:

GPT understands and takes seriously its responsibility to all stakeholders to uphold high ethical standards in our business practices and decision making. Critical to this is respecting the human rights of
everyone we deal with, whether indirectly or directly. Our commitment to human rights applies to our operations and our engagement with third parties and is embedded in our policies, systems and processes.

See Our People, Our Suppliers and GPT’s corporate governance policies for further information.

Labour

Principle 3: Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining,

Principle 4: the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour,

Principle 5: the effective abolition of child labour, and

Principle 6: the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.

GPT's policy and action:

GPT encourages and supports the right to freedom of association and collective bargaining, and the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour; and this extends to relationships with our suppliers.

We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace by providing equal opportunity in all aspects of employment. This is articulated in GPT's Equal Employment Opportunities Policy and Diversity Policy for employees and the Supplier Code of Conduct for our suppliers.

See Our People, Our Suppliers and GPT’s corporate governance policies for further information.

Environment

Principle 7: Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges,

Principle 8: undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility, and

Principle 9: encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.

GPT's policy and action:

Environmental sustainability is integrated into the management of the GPT portfolio operations and development projects. GPT recognises that changes to the environment influence the operation of our business and our assets, and we are committed to identifying and managing climate change risks across our business. Environmental sustainability and climate is therefore recognised as a key risk category for GPT.

Our Sustainability Policy supports the development and adoption of practices and actions in relation to climate change and energy, materials and waste, water, biodiversity, and community engagement and development.

See Environment for details of our environmental performance and GPT’s corporate governance policies for further information.

Anti-Corruption

Principle 10: Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms; including extortion and bribery.

GPT's policy and action:

GPT is committed to creating and maintaining a culture of corporate compliance and ethical behaviour in which employees are responsible and accountable, behave with honesty and integrity and are able to raise concerns regarding unethical, unlawful or undesirable conduct, without fear of reprisal. GPT is actively committed to preventing fraud and corrupt conduct throughout the organisation.

GPT's policies and corporate governance support and underpin our commitment to work against all forms of corruption, including extortion and bribery.
